Modern lifestyles often largely ignore guidelines for healthy eating and the benefits that result. People have less time available to do such sufficient exercise. We usually consume far less fruit and vegetables than our bodies really need, while we eat too much simple sugar.
For a number of years now the food industry has marketed products that cater for increasingly knowledgeable consumers, adding ingredients to traditional products that evoke the concepts of wellness or health protection. Sometimes they even go as far as to claim benefits that are questionable from a scientific point of view.
To regulate this market, which had become quite chaotic, the European Commission commissioned the EFSA (the newly established European Food Safety Authority) to assess, from a strictly scientific point of view, all the ingredients/substances recently or traditionally used in food to determine whether they really provide the health benefits claimed.
In pursuit of the goals set out in its new 2011-2013 business plan and its corporate mission, Fruttagel has worked with a major retail brand to develop a number of new drinks based on EFSA assessments and the advice of leading Italian nutritionists.
The three drinks designed by the in-house research laboratory have high fruit content (at least 50%), are low in calories because they contain no added sugar, and have three different functional benefits: they help protect the heart and the cardiovascular system, they keep bones healthy, and they aid natural intestinal motility.
Last but not least, the three drinks are refreshing and tasty, making healthy eating an enjoyable experience.
